General resource guide for learning, understanding, and navigating Blackboard, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams at Western Technical College

What is Microsoft Teams?

TeamsMicrosoft Teams is a virtual collaboration platform.

It has capability for sharing documents, organizing resources and materials, chatting and communicating with team members, and meeting virtually.

Some Western courses are using Microsoft Teams to meet and work virtually.

Select Teams from the list of applications.
Open TeamsApp

If your instructor has created a Team for your class and added you to it, you should see it listed on on the homepage.

Tips for Success

  • Set up an intentional space in your house or on campus when attending the class. Find a quiet room without unnecessary background noise, if possible.

  • You will need to have a webcam and microphone to attend live Teams meetings. Most laptops and tablets have these items.

  • Make sure the microphone on your webcam is muted when you are not talking

  • Ask questions using the Chat feature. Remember to think before you write questions or comments in the Chat area
