Use Blackboard, Zoom, and Teams

General resource guide for learning, understanding, and navigating Blackboard, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams at Western Technical College

What is Zoom?

Zoom is a videoconferencing tool that allows you to meet virtually "face to face" with other people using your computer or phone. You can attend meetings using your computer's microphone and camera, or call in from your phone.

Several areas on campus (including the Learning Commons) are using Zoom to meet with and help students who are taking classes remotely.

Quick Guide to Using Zoom

Zoom Tips for Success

  • Set up an intentional space in your house or on campus when attending the class. Find a quiet room without unnecessary background noise, if possible.

  • You will need to have a webcam and microphone. Most laptops and tablets have these items.

  • Make sure the microphone on your webcam is muted when you are not talking

  • Ask questions using the Chat feature

    • Remember to think before you write questions or comments in the Chat area

  • Utilize the Raise Your Hand feature if wanting to ask a question during the class
