General resource guide for learning, understanding, and navigating Blackboard, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams at Western Technical College

What is Blackboard?

home page of BlackboardIf you're new to Western, you may hear people talking about Blackboard but not know what they mean.

Blackboard is Western's online learning system, and it's where you'll find all the information, materials, and assignments for your classes. The login screen is pictured at right.

The Blackboard website is https://blackboard.westerntc.edu/ or you can find the link under the "Current Students" area of Western's website. It is also linked on this guide for you.

Logging in to Blackboard

The Blackboard login process uses Single Sign On (SSO) with your email address.

If you receive an error, please use this video (2:00 min) to help you “clear the cache” in your browser.  This should fix any issues.

Blackboard Introduction for Students

Students who are new to Western will be assigned to the "Student Readiness Training" course in Blackboard. This course is designed to help you get familiar with the Blackboard tools and skills you will need to access course materials, download and save files, use the discussion board, and submit your assignments.

The videos and resources on this page are just for quick reference and helpful tips. If you need assistance completing the Blackboard Readiness Training, logging into Blackboard, or are experiencing other technical difficulties, please contact PCService@westerntc.edu or call 608-789-6266.
