LESSON: Using the Pyramid Structure to Write Your Conclusion

CONCLUSION

The conclusion of an essay typically follows a three-part structure, designed to effectively wrap up your writing and leave a lasting impression.  Typically, the conclusion begins with restating the thesis with different wording, briefly summarizing the main points, and finishing with a final thought or closing statement.

Optional Techniques to End Strong:

  • A powerful quote

  • A rhetorical question

  • A call to action

  • A reference back to the introduction (“bookending”)
