Some Tips for Essay Writing

  • Once you've found a news article, read it several times and make sure you understand the main points
  • Check the assignment instructions to make sure you fulfill them
  • Summarize the article in your own words
  • Draw a clear connection to a genetic topic covered in class
  • Include a complete citation for your article at the end of your essay
  • After you've written your essay, re-read it (preferably out loud) and correct any mistakes you find
