For this assignment, you are looking for news articles and not research articles.

You may be wondering: But how can I tell the difference?

Here are some general guidelines to help you understand the major differences.

News Articles vs. Research Articles
News Articles Research Articles (AKA Journal Articles)
describe news, usually an event or discovery describe a research study
published in news sources published in research journals
written for a general audience using mostly everyday language written for the scientific community and often uses highly scientific vocabulary
written in a single section or may have topic-based headings often contain specific sections typical of research articles including an Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion
may include links to sources and/or a few references at the end of the article usually have MANY references at the end of the paper and include MANY citations throughout the writing
