Overview of the OER Fellowship Workshops
There are four workshops planned in this series. Each one will guide participants through one phase of the OER development.
Workshop 1: Project Planning guides participants through an initial planning phase, in hopes of laying the groundwork for a successful project. It's designed to help you think through your end product and what will be needed to make it a reality.
Workshop 2: Project Creation covers the core activities of content adaptation, remix, and original creation. This is also where we'll cover important practical tasks such as using outside source material and prioritizing accessibility.
Workshop 3: Revising and Publishing takes participants through a guided revision process and then leads them into the final publication phase.
Workshop 4: Teaching with OER has participants evaluate the creation process and plan for the future. We'll also discuss ways to use your OER with students and begin to incorporate concepts of open pedagogy.
How the Workshops Work
These workshops are designed to be done in order, but they are created in sections so that you can skip around, jump forward, or come back to content as needed. The content is offered asynchronously and can be completed at your own pace as you work on your project. We encourage you to set aside about 90 minutes for each workshop to interact with the content and complete the guided activities. Our hope is that all of that time and effort will help move your OER project forward.
Other Resources and Supports Available to You
- With your input, we will assign you a Project Manager. This person will check in with you about once a month to discuss how things are going, work with you to address any challenges, and help you keep your project moving forward.
- With your input, we will also assign a Proofreader for your project. This person will read through the materials you create and provide you with feedback to improve your end product.
- Your Librarians are also available to help with finding existing materials, using or attributing source material, or answering other questions that may arise about your project or the OER Fellowship experience.
- We will also offer a monthly check-in opportunities via Zoom. These sessions are optional and will not have an agenda, but we hope they will provide an opportunity to build community around the work of developing OER.
