Getting Started with Blackboard
Blackboard is Western's online learning platform. It's also called a "Learning Management System" and it's where you'll find all the information, materials, and assignments for Western courses.
The Blackboard website is https://blackboard.westerntc.edu/ or you can find the link under the "Current Students" area of Western's website.
The Blackboard login process uses Single Sign On (SSO) with your email address and password. Once you are logged in, the homepage will display any Blackboard courses to which you have access.
Directions: Go to https://blackboard.westerntc.edu/. Select the button on the right that says "Click Here to Login." Then log in using your Western email address and password.
Student Readiness Training
Students who are new to Western will be assigned to the "Student Readiness Training" course in Blackboard. This course is designed to help you get familiar with the Blackboard tools and skills you will need to access course materials, download and save files, use the discussion board, and submit your assignments. This will usually be the first Blackboard course in which you are enrolled and is a good opportunity to practice using the platform before you start taking for-credit courses.
