Basic Database Searching
When searching for articles in databases, be aware different authors will use different terminology. Create a list of search terms and synonyms. Example search terms:
- "2-year college" - "two-year college"
- "community college"
- cultural identity
- "culturally responsive education"
- "culturally responsive teaching"
- "culturally relevant teaching"
- "culturally relevant pedagogy"
- "educational equity"
- "education justice" - "educational justice"
- "first-generation college students"

Advanced Searching
Combine search terms in a single search box or use the Advanced Search with multiple boxes, and enter a search term in each. Notice the options to select AND to narrow a search and OR to broaden a search.
