Citing Sources in AMA

For your paper and project, you will cite your sources using AMA style.

For more information on citing sources using AMA, please refer to our brief guide on the topic, linked below.

The print version of the AMA Manual of Style, 11th edition is available on reserve in the Learning Commons. Just ask at the desk to use it or ask one of our writing tutors for help with citing your sources.

Pro Tip: Use the CITE button in the databases to get you started!

Most databases have a citation builder to help you quickly collect the information you need for your citations. Some even have AMA format as an option. Use it, but then be sure to double check things because they're not always 100% correct.

ProQuest and EBSCO databases all have AMA format as a citation style option. Gale databases do not, so you'll need to do a little more work adapting the information to AMA style.

Who can help me with writing?

Western's Writing Center is a great way to get feedback and suggestions on your writing and use of citations. Keri and her team can help with writing for any purpose or any class. They'll help you at any stage of the process (from brainstorming to outline to rough draft to final draft). They can also help with presentations. The Writing Center offers services on campus in the Learning Commons and also online.

You can also contact Keri directly at grokowskyk@westerntc.edu.
