Evaluating OERs

What makes an OER "good"?

Ultimately, Open Educational Resources should be judged with the same criteria you use to evaluate any learning resource. It's important to consider the format, the technical accessibility, the presentation of the content itself, the approach and tone of the resource, and all of the other factors you value in selecting information resources. 

Consider the textbook selection criteria provided by the college within the textbook policy or use guidance selected by your division or department for textbook selection. If you're looking specifically for a list of things to consider when evaluating OER, we recommend the list provided by the Open Textbook Library that is linked below.
