Find Background Information to Learn About Your Topic

SearchGet to know your topic by doing some background research. The database, Credo Reference, is an excellent source to learn more about your topic. Use it locate and understand some of the basic facts and tenets that form the basis of each religions - key people or figures, dates or timelines, landmark events, important ideas, concepts, beliefs, philosophies, basic rites and rituals, holidays, symbols, and ceremonies, and what they mean.

How to Find eBooks in Credo Reference

Let's say you need to compare the concept of the afterlife in Christianity and another religion such as Hinduism or Buddhism and you needed more information than just a basic definition or encyclopedia entry. You can also use Credo Reference to access eBooks and view their contents.

Start with your search terms either as single keywords or combined phrases:

  • afterlife
  • death
  • reincarnation
  • immortality
  • soul
  • Buddhism and reincarnation
  • Christianity and heaven
  • Christianity and hell
  • Chritianity and soul
  • Buddhism and immortality

Start searching Credo Reference by

  1. Clicking on the 3 horizonal pars in the upper left of the home page.
  2. Choose All Titles
  3. Use the Subjects Filter and choose Religion and Theology
  4. Scroll through the list of books and click on the title of an ebook to view its contents.
  5. Click on content title you wish to read.
